Welcome to Sakya Abode

Built in 1993, with the aim to provide a comfortable stay for our guests from around the world, who despite the distance and remoteness of the area, chose to explore Spiti. Sakya Abode was the first hotel in Spiti Valley. The charming property is built in the traditional Himalayan style of architecture. Spread over two spacious floors, it has 12 double rooms with ensuite baths and a large dormitory. You can sit here and read, meditate, do yoga, play your guitar or simply enjoy the crisp Spitian sun.

Testimonials

On the main road in New Kaza, near the gompa, this is one of the best value places in town. Bright, comfy rooms open onto shared terraces that overlook a grassy-lawned courtyard, and the restaurant is excellent – try the bizarrely-named but addictively delicious 'copper Eliza' (a pancake with dried fruit, banana, nuts and chocolate sauce). Our independent authors have visited Sakya Abode and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Kaza.

If someone is visiting Spiti then Sakya Abode/SnowLion/Sakya Homestay/Kunphen Monastery Guesthouse (all managed by same management) are the best properties to put upto. Hospitality is as par excellence. Mr Tsering Bodh is one of the most knowledgeable & most helpful host in the Spiti valley. His expert reccos were of great help to us.
